On a weekday Halloween, Lawton's events spread out over the weeks before and the holiday itself comes down to a few hours of porch lights after work. In 2026, Oct. 31 falls on a Saturday. That moves the busiest part of the calendar onto two days. Friday, Oct. 30, brings an afternoon party at City Hall and two evening trunk-or-treats. On Saturday, the first candy goes out at 10 a.m. on NW Cache Road, and the last trunk closes up while neighborhood trick-or-treating is still going.
When KLAW put together its 2026 list of Lawton trunk-or-treats, it pointed out that most of the city's events are scheduled before Oct. 31 "so kids can still celebrate Halloween the old fashioned way." That is true for the season as a whole. This year, though, four trunk-or-treats and treat events from KLAW's list fall on the holiday itself, and the city adds a fifth at Patterson Community Center. Several of the evening ones overlap the residential window. Plan Halloween week by the clock, not just the date.
The run-up, one weekend at a time
The weeks before Halloween mostly follow a weekend pattern. Here's what's still ahead as of Oct. 12:
- Saturday, Oct. 17. SouthWest Auto Group holds its annual Fall Festival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at SouthWest Toyota, 7110 NW Quanah Parker Trailway. It includes a trunk-or-treat, games, a cake walk and costume contests by age group. The best family costume wins $250, and each age-group winner gets $100. Winners will be announced on Oct. 21.
- Friday, Oct. 23. The Comanche Nation's Fall Festival starts at 5 p.m. at the Powwow Grounds, 584 NW Bingo Road. KLAW lists it as a 5 to 7 p.m. event with a hayride, games, candy, hot dogs and a costume contest.
- Friday, Oct. 23, earlier in the day. Lawton Public Library holds a family-friendly Halloween Skeleton Hands craft, where kids make a skeleton hand that moves, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 110 SW 4th Street.
- Saturday, Oct. 24. Dwell Church holds a free trunk-or-treat from 5 to 7 p.m. in its parking lot at 3832 SE Ford Road.
- Sunday, Oct. 25. First Baptist Church of Lawton holds its annual trunk-or-treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in its downtown lot at 501 SW B Ave. It's free and open to the public.
The library's events land on afternoons and weekdays between the trunk-or-treat weekends, and that pattern continues the next week.
Tuesday through Thursday belong to the little ones
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the library's Boo-A-Palooza Storytime runs from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at 110 SW 4th Street. It's for children ages 0 to 6 and their caregivers, with Halloween stories and a costume parade. It's half an hour on a weekday morning, which fits toddlers better than a Saturday night does.
On Thursday, Oct. 29, the Almor West PTA holds a free trunk-or-treat that's open to the public from 6 to 7 p.m. at 6902 SW Delta Ave. It's the only trunk-or-treat on a weeknight before Friday, and it's an hour long.
Friday, Oct. 30, starts the weekend
In most years the night before Halloween is a school night. This year it starts the weekend, and three Friday events are spread across the afternoon and evening:
- City of Lawton Halloween Bash, 3 to 5 p.m. It's in the City Hall Banquet Room. The event is free, with trick-or-treating for kids at booths decorated by City staff. KSWO's Oct. 2 roundup calls it an annual event.
- Hokkaido Ramen and Sushi Bar Trunk-or-Treat, 5 to 7 p.m. It's in the restaurant's parking lot at 1305 NW Sheridan Road.
- Marie Detty Youth and Family Services Trunk-or-Treat, 6 to 7:30 p.m. It's at the nonprofit's new location, 4521 SW Lee Blvd.
The City Hall party ends an hour before the Marie Detty event begins. A family could get to all three without hurrying, and the City Hall party works for parents who leave work a little early.
Saturday, Oct. 31, hour by hour
Four of the trunk-or-treats and treat events on KLAW's list fall on Halloween itself. Add the city's Patterson Community Center event and the residential trick-or-treat window from the City of Lawton's Oct. 1 notice and KSWO's report, and here's the day:
| Time | Event | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 10 a.m. to noon | Cache Road Square Treat Trail, with participating stores handing out candy | 3801 NW Cache Road |
| 1 p.m. | Diamondback HOG Chapter Biker Treat | Diamondback Harley-Davidson, 301 SE Interstate Drive |
| 5 to 8 p.m. | Bethel Assembly of God Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Fest | 1115 SW D Ave. |
| 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | 4th annual Trunk-or-Treat, City of Lawton Community Centers | Patterson Community Center parking lot |
| 6 to 8 p.m. | Family Promise of Lawton Trunk-or-Treat | Arvest Bank lot near Lowe's, 4330 NW Cache Road |
| 6 to 9 p.m. | Residential trick-or-treating | Neighborhoods citywide |
The morning and early afternoon events don't compete with anything. The Treat Trail at Cache Road Square runs two hours. The Biker Treat at Diamondback Harley-Davidson is free and open to the public. Families with small kids could finish their costume outings before naptime.
Evening is where the overlap happens. Between 5 and 6 p.m., Bethel Assembly of God's fall fest and the city's Patterson event are both open before door-to-door hours begin. From 6 p.m. on, Bethel, Patterson and Family Promise all run while neighborhood trick-or-treating is underway. The Family Promise event has a few extras. Penny Wars will decide visitors' favorite trunk, snacks and drinks are available for a donation, and costumes are encouraged. The Patterson event, run by City of Lawton Community Centers, offers candy, games and prizes for children.
Families who want both a trunk-or-treat and their own street can do the 5 p.m. hour at Bethel or the 5:30 start at Patterson, then head home by the time porch lights come on at 6. The residential window runs until 9 p.m. A family that gets home at 7:30 still has an hour and a half on the block.
For the older crowd
Nearly everything above is built for kids. For teens and adults, the main draw is Trail of Fear at 11101 SE Lee Blvd. According to its 2026 ticket page, the box office is open 6:30 to 10 p.m. on its scheduled nights. As of Oct. 12, the remaining dates are Oct. 15 to 17, Oct. 22 to 24 and Oct. 29 to 31. This season adds a new haunt called "Section 13" and brings back the Hackensaw attraction. It also has an updated midway with games and entertainment, plus a VIP upgrade.
The final run of Oct. 29 to 31 lines up with the busiest family nights. A household with both small kids and teenagers could split up on Saturday, with one group on the porch from 6 to 9 p.m. and the other at the haunt, since its box office stays open until 10.
One place that won't be on the calendar this year is the Museum of the Great Plains. The City reported in August that the main building would close to the public after Aug. 15, 2026, for renovations. The outdoor historic attractions are still open, but weekend public hours are suspended.
A few practical notes
- The City's 2026 listings name the venues for the Halloween Bash and the Patterson event but don't give street addresses. Check the City of Lawton calendar before you go.
- Most church and business events on KLAW's list post their updates on their Facebook event pages, which KLAW links. That's the place to look if the weather changes plans.
- Saturday has two stops on NW Cache Road. The Treat Trail at 3801 NW Cache Road runs in the morning, and the Family Promise trunk-or-treat at 4330 NW Cache Road runs in the evening.
If a PCS move or a recent closing put you in a new Lawton neighborhood this fall, this may be your first Oct. 31 on the block. The Wright Team is glad to share what we know about how trick-or-treat night goes on Lawton streets, and we'll see you out there on Saturday.
