Two Parades on Back-to-Back Saturdays: How Cache's Holiday Season Fits Together This Year

November 5, 2026

How many dates does a Cache family need on the fridge between now and Christmas? This year the answer is three. Each falls on a different weekend, and none of them overlap.

The City of Cache's own calendar for the rest of 2026 lists two community events. One is a Thanksgiving meal on Sunday, Nov. 22. The other is the Cache Area Chamber's Christmas parade, followed by a City of Cache movie night, on Saturday, Dec. 12. One Saturday before the Cache parade, the Town of Medicine Park holds its Christmas Parade on Dec. 5. Medicine Park's parade starts in the afternoon and Cache's is an evening event, so the two parades never compete for the same hours.

Date Event Time Where
Sunday, Nov. 22 City of Cache Community Thanksgiving Meal 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Cache Community Center, SW 5th Street
Saturday, Dec. 5 Medicine Park Christmas Parade Lineup 1:30 p.m., parade at 2:00 p.m. Medicine Park
Saturday, Dec. 12 Cache Area Chamber's Annual Christmas Parade & City of Cache Movie Night 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for parade and movie Cache, with the movie in Cache City Hall

The season opens at a Sunday table, ten days from now

The first date is the closest one, and it is also the only one with an indoor seat and a plate of food. The City of Cache is hosting its Community Thanksgiving Meal on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cache Community Center on SW 5th Street. The city's invitation is plain about who it is for:

"Bring your family, invite a friend, and come enjoy time together with our wonderful community. We are thankful for the people who make Cache such a special place to call home!"

Everyone is welcome, and the city bills the afternoon as "good food, fellowship, and community." The meal runs four days before Thanksgiving, so it doesn't compete with the family dinner on Thursday. It gives neighbors a chance to sit together before everyone scatters to their own tables or hits the road.

The three-hour window also helps. A family that has a Sunday morning commitment, or a household coming off a long Saturday, can arrive at 2 p.m. or stop by closer to 4 p.m. and still be inside the posted hours.

The street number for the Community Center appears more than one way on the city's event listing. Check that page before you head out. City Hall is closed on the official holidays listed on the city calendar, so plan any phone call for a regular weekday.

The Saturday before, if you like a walk first

Cache sits at the south edge of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The weekend before the meal includes the last date of the Refuge's fall hike program. Friends of the Wichitas lists its Fall Foliage Hike on Saturdays, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21, leaving at 9 a.m. from the Visitor Center. Reservations are required, and they opened Nov. 9. The program's detail page describes a two-mile walk in Hollis Canyon, with participants at least eight years old.

A household that gets a Nov. 21 spot could spend the morning in the canyon on Saturday and sit down at the Community Center on Sunday afternoon. Together, that's a full weekend without leaving the Cache side of the county.

Dec. 5 is an afternoon parade up the road

Two weeks after the Thanksgiving meal, the season moves to Medicine Park. The town's events page lists its Christmas Parade for Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026, with lineup at 1:30 p.m. and the parade starting at 2 p.m. The town also states that all of its events are free and open to the public.

A 2 p.m. start puts this parade in full daylight. That matters for the families who show up for it most. Small children who wouldn't last through an evening event can watch the whole thing and be home well before dinner. For anyone thinking about entering a float or vehicle, the 1:30 p.m. lineup time is the number to plan around. The Town Hall is reachable at (580) 529-2825 with questions.

The rest of the afternoon can stay in Medicine Park. The Medicine Park Aquarium & Natural Sciences Center posts its winter hours on its visit page, along with its regular feeding shows and Critter Chats. Check that page the week of the parade so you can line up an indoor stop with the posted schedule.

Dec. 12 is Cache's evening, and it ends indoors

Exactly one week after Medicine Park, Cache holds its own parade. The City of Cache lists the Cache Area Chamber's Annual Christmas Parade & City of Cache Movie Night for Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the parade and movie together. The city's description is one line: "Join us for a movie after the Christmas Parade in Cache City Hall."

The two parades work as a pair because of how this evening is built. The parade belongs to the Cache Area Chamber and the movie belongs to the City, and the listing treats them as a single evening. A family can watch the floats go by and then walk into City Hall for the film. The posted window runs three hours, the same length as the Thanksgiving meal, so the night has room for both without anyone rushing.

Taken together, the two parades split the season by time of day:

  • Dec. 5, Medicine Park: a daytime parade at 2 p.m., free, with the afternoon open afterward.
  • Dec. 12, Cache: an evening that opens at 5:30 p.m. with the parade and closes with a movie indoors at City Hall.

A household with grandparents in town the first weekend and a different set of guests the second can give each group its own parade. A family that loves parades can do both and never pick between them.

Where dinner fits on Dec. 12

The evening's posted window opens at 5:30 p.m., right at the usual dinner hour, so most families will eat before or after. One sit-down option is close to home. KSWO reported the grand opening of Oklahoma's first Wahlburgers in Cache in February 2025. Its location page gives the address as 16193 OK-115. Check its posted hours for that Saturday before you plan dinner around the parade, especially if you're feeding a group.

Putting the three dates on one calendar

Here is the season in order, with what to settle before each date:

  1. Before Nov. 22: Confirm the Community Center address on the City of Cache event page. Then decide whether you're arriving at 2 p.m. or later in the afternoon. Since everyone is welcome, think about whether to bring along a neighbor or a friend who's new to town.
  2. Before Dec. 5: If you're entering the Medicine Park parade, plan to be in line by 1:30 p.m. If you're watching, the parade itself starts at 2 p.m. Call Medicine Park Town Hall at (580) 529-2825 with questions.
  3. Before Dec. 12: Plan dinner around the evening's 5:30 p.m. start. Dress for standing outside in the evening, and remember the movie afterward is indoors at Cache City Hall.

The Wright Team lives and works in this corner of Comanche County, and we'll be marking Nov. 22, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 on our own calendars. If you have family coming to Cache for the holidays and want suggestions for a day around these events, give us a call.
